Car crashes into a school at Greenacre

Two children are fighting for their lives and seven others are injured after a car plowed into a classroom at a Sydney primary school.

A woman driver was behind the wheel of the car when it hit a demountable at Banksia Road Public School in Greenacre, in Sydney’s south west, at 9.45am.

The car which plunged into the classroom was identified as a Toyota Kluger.

One of the children is believed to be an eight-year-old boy and paramedics were performing CPR on the way to Westmead Children’s Hospital.

NSW Ambulance Chief Superintendent Richard Cohen has confirmed nine children under the age of nine are involved.

Three tradesmen working nearby reportedly rushed to the scene and lifted the car off a student who was crushed underneath, Nine News reporter Damian Ryan told Radio 2GB.

Panicked parents rushed to the school to check on the welfare of their children shortly after the crash.
