‘He was pretty well shook up, I ran over as soon as I got out of the car to see if he was ok. He could hardly talk. He was in a lot of pain but very lucky to be alive.’

Police Scotland said in a statement: ‘Police were called around 3.05pm on Monday 21 October to the A90 near Emmock Park in Dundee, following a crash where a silver Vauxhall Astra went through a roundabout.

‘Emergency services attended and the 42-year-old male driver was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

‘There was debris on the road, which was cleared by 3.30pm. Enquiries remain ongoing.’

The roundabout has been a cause for concern in the past, with another horror crash seeing a car obliterated when it collided with a lorry last year.
