Two men have been charged after allegedly going on a destructive rampage which ended with a car being struck by an oncoming passenger train.

Two men were captured on CCTV pushing the vehicle onto the tracks and running away before it was struck.

Remarkably, no one on board the 6.26pm express train from the city was injured but the incident caused severe delays, as a crane had to be brought in to remove the car.

Two men were also seen vandalising other cars in the train station car park before running off.

The damage bill is expected to reach at least $100,000.

Two men aged 21 and 23 have been charged with endangering life, illegal interference and property damage.

They have since been refused bail and will appear in front of Christies Beach Magistrates Court later on Tuesday.
