A driver hasn’t been able to move their family car for at least two weeks – after council workers surrounded it with wooden bollards.

When the Ford Focus 2007, parked on the tarmac at Eardley Road, Streatham, London, it had a clear route back to the road.

But if the owner returns they will find three new posts have been concreted into the road around the car, blocking its exit.

Shocked passerby Tom Webster said: ‘I was just walking by, when I saw it – and, admittedly, I did do a double-take.

‘There used to often be a couple of cars parked there, but one obviously wasn’t moved before the posts went up.

‘I don’t know who it belongs to, and I’ve not seen anyone by it during that time.’

He added: ‘It’s not something you see very often.’

Wandsworth Council, which manages the area, told Mailonline they have given the owner `extensive warnings’.

A spokesman said the car was parked illegally on the pavement and the owner had been asked to move it.

`We asked the owner to move it and placed three warning notices on it, but the owner did not move it and did not return our inspector’s calls.

`We are waiting to hear from him so we can work with him to get the car removed.

`This was deliberate action taken to prevent the illegal selling of cars from the pavement.’

The spokesman confirmed that the drastic action was taken in response to complaints by residents.
