Car plummets off a cliff near Spit Bridge

A driver in his 60s has escaped serious injury when his car plummeted down a cliff after he passed out at the wheel.

The man suffered facial injuries after his white car fell 27metres from a road at Mosman near the Spit Bridge in Sydney’s north.

The driver has been taken to Royal North Shore Hospital and it is believed he suffered a medical episode.

The crash occurred near the intersection of near Parriwi Road and Spit Road, on an embankment above the harbour foreshore.

The driver managed to climb out of his car but said he cannot remember the fall, Seven News reported.

Firefighters who responded to the incident said the car fell 27metres down the cliff, where it remains in the thick shrub beneath the road.
