Carer, 20, suffers horrendous head wound when thug attacks her in street with glass bottle to leave her covered with blood

A young mother has been left with a horrific head wound after being attacked in the street with a glass bottle. 

Yavana Dix was glassed in the late night assault near her home in Sandown, Isle of Wight. 

Ms Dix, a carer who has a two-year-old son, was attacked in the early hours of Friday morning and taken to a nearby house where her family tried to stem the bleeding.

She was then taken to the island’s St Mary’s hospital by ambulance where she was given six stitches above her eye. She also suffered bruising in the assault. 

Her mother Denise Robinson said: ‘She’s very anxious and scared. She’s not eating, she’s not sleeping. She needs him caught.’ 

The 20-year-old’s brother Sean has now posted a photo on social media of his sister’s injuries in a bid to find the person responsible.

Ms Dix said the perpetrator was known to her, although the police have yet to make an arrest. 

A spokesperson for Hampshire Police said: ‘I can confirm we are investigating after a woman in her 20s suffered a head injury following an assault in Lake Hill, Sandown, in the early hours of December 20,’ he said.

‘Enquiries are ongoing and we would ask anyone with information to contact police on 101, quoting 44190456012.’
