Carjacking victim who lost teeth says she saved her puppy

A woman who will need plastic surgery after a brutal carjacking revealed she did not want to lose her puppy during the horrific ordeal.

Taylor Hall, 18, was dragged along the concrete after she was pulled from her convertible by a group of three men in a stolen Nissan X-Trail who were being pursued by police in southeast Melbourne.

Ms Hall lost several teeth after the offenders rammed a police car in Seaford but it did not stop her protecting her eight-month-old rescue puppy.

‘There’s no way that I was going to let her go – she’s only a puppy and she doesn’t deserve to go through anything like that,’ Ms Hall told Herald Sun.

‘I didn’t think about the danger to myself until after I knew Luna was OK.’

The offenders were intercepted by police in Seaford and fled the scene, leaving behind a 35-year-old woman.

Police called off the pursuit and the stolen car then collided head-on with another vehicle at 7.30pm on Monday.

The group of thugs then stole Ms Hall’s Renault Clio before abandoning it a short time later.

‘I was trying to save my dog and got dragged by the car for about 50 metres before they hit the curb and I was flung off,’ she said on social media after the ordeal.

Lucas Dumar, who witnessed the carjacking, told Daily Mail Australia he drove over a median strip to escape as he watched the attack unfold.

‘I looked back quickly to see two guys get to the girl’s car, a third guy now running along the median strip towards my car then I heard her scream as they ripped open her door and grabbed her,’ he said.

‘The second I saw the third guy getting closer to me I put my foot down and quickly got out of there.

‘They looked to be on drugs and also had blood over their faces … I think one of them was bald, they were a bit older and they were wearing baggy clothing.’

Nelly Rangiuira said the men tried to steal his ute, with one yelling to the other to ‘grab the gun’, The Herald Sun reported.

‘They got out of their car that smashed into the black car in front of me and tried to take my car,’ Mr Rangiuira said.

The trio, one of whom has a neck tattoo, were last seen in a gold Volkswagen Golf and are believed to be suffering visible injuries from the crash.

One of the suspects is of Caucasian appearance and was wearing a white baseball cap and black t-shirt.

A manhunt is underway, and the 35-year-old woman is assisting police with their enquiries but has not been charged.

Ambulance Victoria confirmed the teenage girl was rushed to Frankston Hospital in a stable condition but suffering pain from leg and facial injuries.

The men abandoned the girl’s car in Frankston South with her pet dog in the backseat. The animal is safely in the care of police.

Witnesses said they knew something ‘wasn’t quite right’ when the speeding car didn’t bother to slow down for speed bumps.

‘As it drove past me, I noticed its boot was halfway up and it had flat tires,’ onlooker Cameron Page said.

Another bystander Mandy Gledhill said the car was running red lights, driving over the speed limit, had a blown-out front tyre and a smashed-up rear.
