Carrie Underwood donates 10K to cop who broke his neck

Carrie Underwood may be recovering from a horrific accident of her own.

But that didn’t stop her from opening up her heart and her wallet to a stranger after a traumatic injury.

The 34-year-old star donated  $10K to a GoFundMe page for a police officer who broke his neck in a life-threatening crash while driving to work.

The country singer — who is still recovering from an accident of her own — made the donation to Checotah Assistant Police Chief Justin Durrett using her married name, Carrie Fisher.

According to the donation page, the accident took place on February 11 and occurred when the officer’s vehicle slid off the road and ejected him. The GoFundMe page further details that the truck ‘landed on him.’

Underwood has not gone on record to discuss her donation, but KOTV’s Tess Maune confirmed the singer’s donation via Twitter.

The local news reporter wrote: ‘Checotah native and country superstar @carrieunderwood has donated $10,000 to Checotah Assistant Police Chief Justin Durrett.

‘The two were childhood friends who grew up going to the same church. Durrett broke his neck in a crash on his way to work Sunday.’

The donation comes as Underwood bounces back from an accident of her own, which happened when she took a fall in November that left her with a broken wrist and also required dozens of stitches to her face.

Earlier in February, the country singer made a rare appearance in an Instagram set shared the same day as Durrett’s crash. The posting featured her son Isaiah, two, helping with the star’s workout.

Though the American Idol alumna’s face was turned away in the pictures, she seemed upbeat, captioning the set: ‘My boys make work outs fun (and a bit less productive, but that’s ok)! #StayThePath.’

In January, Underwood gave fans an update on her broken wrist after she underwent surgery in November.

The Little Toy Guns singer revealed that she had her ‘last check up’ as she shared an X-ray image of her wrist being held together with a plate and several screws.

She further detailed her recovery when she wrote to members of her fan club: ‘I am determined to make 2018 amazing and I want to share things with you along the way. And when I am ready to get in front of a camera, I want you all to understand why I might look a bit different.’
