Carrie Underwood reveals she needs to exercise often because dancing in heels on stage is demanding

Carrie Underwood says she has to work out often because she needs to be in top shape to perform on stage.

The blonde beauty explained to PopCulture it’s just not easy belting out her hit tunes when she’s walking across the stage in high heels.

‘It is demanding being on stage, and especially some of the songs that I write and sing are really hard, and I need that. I need to be at my peak,’ said the country darling who is pregnant with her second child.

‘I need to be able to sing and walk across the stage without being winded,’ the Nashville resident added.

‘And I’m doing it in heels, which makes it five times as hard, so I feel like that’s just something that makes me a better person, a better performer. It just makes me feel better about myself. It makes me feel better. I need that in my life.’

And she says being in the gym is like ‘therapy.’

The Before He Cheats hitmaker said: ‘I feel like it’s my therapy everyday. I don’t go get massages, I don’t go get facials. That would be great.’

Carrie added, ‘I might get a massage twice a year – some Mother’s Day present or something, which I literally have a gift card for that, that’s like two years old that I have not used for Mother’s Day.

‘But, that’s my thing. I don’t need vacations even. I’m like, “Honey, you can give me like an hour, I’m good. You don’t have to take me out. It’s fine.” That’s kind of my therapy. I feel like a lot of what I do is physically demanding.’

This interview comes just as she released her song Love Wins.

The clip dropped on Wednesday.

She also goes to great lengths to hide her baby bump as she is filmed mostly from chest up. The performer is expecting her second child with husband Mike Fisher next year.

‘This song is hopeful,’ the Grammy winner stated in a press release.

‘It’s saying no matter who you are, what you feel, what you think, we’re all human beings. We all deserve love. We all deserve respect and we all should try to show that to one another.’

First she touched on how the country is divided.

Good intentions: 'It's saying no matter who you are, what you feel, what you think, we're all human beings. We all deserve love. We all deserve respect and we all should try to show that to one another'

‘Politics and prejudice: How the hell did it ever come to this?’ she sang. ‘When everybody’s got to pick a side, it don’t matter if you’re wrong or right.’

But the country darling also said there is hope.

‘I believe you and me are sisters and brothers and I…I believe we’re made to be here for each other,’ she sang.

‘And we’ll never fall if we walk hand and hand. Put a world that seems broken back together again. And I…I believe, in the end, love wins.’

Carrie reminded her fans that showing love is also important.

‘Love is power. Love is a smile. Love reaches out. Love is the remedy,’ she sang. ‘Love is the answer. Love is an open door. Love is the only thing worth fighting for.’

Later she had on face paint as she danced in a cloud of smoke.

In May Underwood opened up about the scary fall she suffered last year, which left her needing more than 40 stitches on her face, in her first TV interview since the terrifying accident.

The singer, 35, spoke to Hoda Kotb, 53, during an interview that aired on the Today show, detailing what she described as a ‘freak accident’ that she once thought might change her appearance forever.

‘Plain and simple it was kind of a freak accident,’ Carrie told Hoda. ‘I just fell, I just tripped taking my dogs out to do their business. It could have happened to anybody. I say, if I had fallen anywhere else, it wouldn’t have been a problem, but there was just one little step that I went to catch myself on and I missed.’

Back in November 2017, the singer fell down some stairs at her Nashville home. In January this year, Carrie, who also broke her wrist during the fall, revealed to her fans that she also suffered facial lacerations requiring 40 to 50 stitches.
