- CCTV shows the pair at Abby’s Food & Wine on Preston Road in Wembley May 7
- One of the men orders cigarettes and booze then pays using fraudulent details
- Second man distracts the cashier as first uses someone else’s card details to pay
Revealing footage shows two men allegedly conning a cashier out of £65 worth of booze and cigarettes using a despicable card machine trick.
CCTV shows the pair at Abby’s Food & Wine on Preston Road in Wembley on May 7.
One of the men orders two packs of cigarettes, two bottles of vodka and soft drinks then seemingly types in a fraudulent card number as his friend distracts the cashier.
When the shopkeeper hands the alleged fraudster the payment machine to enter his pin, he inserts his bank card upside down.
He then types in a 16-digit card number followed by an expiry date – believed to be someone else’s bank details.
When the cashier questioned the man, he produced ID and showed that it matched the name on the card.
It was only when the cashier zoomed in on his CCTV footage that he discovered the apparent fraud.

The customer made two separate payments totalling about £65 in the shop: one for the cigarettes and one for the drinks.
A few days later, the cashier received a call from the card machine company telling him the payment details for both transactions did not match the customer’s details.
