Cassandra Thorburn treats herself to gourmet food delivery

She broke her silence about her nasty split with ex-husband Karl Stefanovic on Monday, telling Woman’s Day magazine that she ‘fell in a heap’ when the Today show host left the marital home. 

And Cassandra Thorburn looked as though she was treating herself after such a tough year when she received a delivery of gourmet meals to her home on Monday. 

The mother of three, who said that during the ‘dark months’ following her split gifts of food from friends lifted her spirits, was seen greeting a delivery man at the door of her $8 million mansion in Sydney’s lower north shore.

Speaking to Woman’s Day on Monday, Cassandra said: ‘During those dark months, imagine opening the front door and an esky of home-cooked food was there, even down to school lunches for the kids.

‘I was so grateful for these small acts of kindness. My friends really helped me come through the other side.’

The 46-year-old also said that following following her split from Karl she was in shock and would fall into a ‘heap’ when the couple’s children, Jackson, 18, Ava, 12, and River, 10, would go to school.

After accepting the box of meals from company The Dinner Ladies, she then dashed out of the house and into her car with Jackson.

According to its website, the food company specialises in supplying delicious dinner to time-poor people.

After Karl left in September last year, Cassandra said it was thinking of her kids’ well being that pushed her to move forward with her life.

She recalled that her eldest son Jackson took the marriage breakdown particularly hard, refusing to leave their former Lindfield family home for their new Cremorne mansion.

Instead, he slept on the floor of his former bedroom while his mother and siblings set up in the new home, despite all the furniture having been removed from the family’s former abode. 

Despite the turmoil of the relationship breakdown, Cass admitted she was now feeling stronger than ever and was prioritising the happiness of her children above all but was open to meet someone new if the opportunity arose.
