After months of playing the role of ‘dignified ex-wife’, Cassandra Thorburn has finally shown her true colours.
In a bitter interview with New Idea on Monday, the 47-year-old poured scorn over her ex-husband Karl Stefanovic and his new, younger wife Jasmine Yarbrough.
Among other inflammatory claims, Cassandra alleged her children – Jackson, 19, River, 12, and Ava, 13 – didn’t want to attend their father’s wedding and even hinted that Karl’s days at Channel Nine were numbered.

Cassandra told the magazine – which is owned by Nine’s commercial rivals Seven West Media – that her children were ‘told they never had to go’ to Karl’s wedding, despite being flown over to Mexico for the occasion.
‘My 19-year-old [Jackson] assured me they [he and his siblings] did not attend,’ she claimed.
Twisting the knife further, Cassandra hinted that Karl had ‘designed’ the wedding so that the younger children – River and Ava – ‘had to spend those two weeks with their father’.
She then claimed that Jackson, who is not bound by custody arrangements because he is over 18, only attended to ‘protect’ his siblings.
No evidence has been provided to support Cassandra’s claims. Daily Mail Australia has contacted Karl and Jasmine’s publicists for comment.
It comes after an ‘insider’ told The Daily Telegraph that Karl’s children ‘were told they did not have to attend the wedding, but Karl wanted them on the trip’.
The newspaper’s source added that Cassandra had ‘received a call from Jackson on the afternoon of the nuptials confirming [he and River] did not attend the ceremony.’
Despite Cassandra’s implication that her children only reluctantly attended the trip to Mexico, photos taken several days before the ceremony show Jackson chatting happily with Jasmine, 34, and Karl, 44, at Los Angeles Airport.
Meanwhile, Daily Mail Australia understands Ava has a particularity close bond with her stepmother, and has been seen wearing accessories from the shoe designer’s popular label Mara & Mine.
Also in her blistering New Idea exclusive, Cassandra alleged that Jasmine ‘paid for five makeup artists from LA’ to assist on her wedding day.
She claimed to know this because her financial affairs with Karl and supposedly still entwined, saying: ‘I know, because I get the bills… I still have to pay half the bills.’
Furthermore, she suggested that Karl’s days at Channel Nine could be numbered by claiming executives were looking to replace him as host of the Today show.
‘Karl has just been doing such a bad job at it, they are looking for a replacement,’ she alleged.
Karl and Jasmine tied the knot at the five-star One&Only Palmilla resort in San Jose del Cabo, Mexico earlier this month, in front of close friends and family.
By all accounts, Jasmine was a ‘bridechilla’ on her big day – contrary to Cassandra’s suggestion.
After the ceremony, the newlyweds and select members of the bridal party flew to Los Angeles to spend a night at the Beverly Hills Hotel.
Afterwards, they jetted to a ski resort in Aspen, Colorado for a so-called ‘familymoon’ involving Karl’s children.
Cassandra’s interview with New Idea came as a surprise to many industry observers, as she had previously criticised the publication for supposedly misquoting her.
Last week, the magazine published an ‘interview’ with her, in which she apparently branded her ex-husband ‘fake’ and a ‘narcissist’.
She had allegedly made the claims at Sydney Airport, the day after Karl married Jasmine in Mexico on Saturday, December 8.
