Catherine Zeta-Jones looked sensational as she channelled Morticia Adams in a sizzling new snap shared to Instagram on Wednesday.

With her sleek raven locks, figure-hugging black dress and sweep of red lipstick, the actress, 51, bared an uncanny resemblance to the matriarch of the creepy fictional family.

Alongside the image, Catherine shared her excitement about her latest role in the upcoming Netflix live action series Wednesday, in which she plays the titular character’s mother.

The wife of actor Michal Douglas, 76, was sure to set pulses racing in the smouldering snap in which she donned a sexy one-shouldered black number complete with a large satin bow.

A spotlight shined on the star which showed her shapely silhouette behind, with the Chicago star posing with one hand on her hip.  

Captioning her post, Catherine penned: ‘It’s ‘WEDNESDAY!’ I have channeled Morticia Addams many times in my life and now I get to play her directed by the incomparable Tim Burton in Netflix’s ‘Wednesday’.

Earlier this week it had been revealed that Catherine had been cast in the role as Morticia in Netflix’s upcoming Wednesday Addams series, titled Wednesday.

The Welsh beauty joins a cast including Jenna Ortega, 18, in the titular role, with Luis Guzmán, 64, playing Gomez Addams.

In February the series was ordered by the streaming giant for eight episodes, focusing on Wednesday’s time studying at Nevermore Academy while exploring her abilities as a psychic.

The show will also follow Wednesday’s sleuthing abilities of a 25-year-old conundrum surrounding her parents, as well as stopping a series of killings in the town.

Actresses who have past played the role in the sci-fi franchise include Carolyn Jones in the 1960s TV show, Anjelica Huston in the two 1990s feature films, and Charlize Theron in a voice-only role in the 2019 animated movie.

Zeta-Jones, who past won an Oscar for her work in the 2002 film adaptation of the musical Chicago, has been seen in recent years on shows including Fox’s Prodigal Son, Facebook Watch’s Queen America and the FX miniseries Feud: Bette and Joan.

Famed filmmaker Tim Burton will direct and executive produce the show, which is created by showrunners Al Gough and Miles Millar.

‘You kind of take what comes your way,’ she told the outlet. ‘Before that, I was the ingénue. Then I was the vixen, swashbuckling and strong. I was enjoying playing those roles. I was getting success playing those roles.’

She opened up about the type of projects she’s partial toward, saying she’s ‘always just wanted to be surrounded by good people.

‘I always want to be a little fish in a big sea. I don’t ever want to be the big fish in a little sea of talent,’ she said. ‘If it is a little bit of typecasting, as long as it’s good work, and it’s good people, and I want to be there with those people. That was always how I chose what I chose then, and how I choose now.’
