Cavinder twins and Miami suffer March Madness heartache as LSU knock them out

Cavinder twins and Miami suffer March Madness heartache as LSU knock them out in Elite Eight… after TikTok stars, 22, took over the tournament during Cinderella run

Sunday night marked the end of the March Madness road for Miami and their TikTok sensation Cavinder twins, after they were downed 54-42 by No 3 seed LSU.

Miami went into the game as big outsiders and ninth seeds, but very high on confidence having picked off No 4 seed Villanova, No 1 seed Indiana and No 8 seed Oklahoma State in the earlier rounds.

The Final Four proved a step too far, though, as LSU dominated in Greenville, South Carolina to send Miami packing.

The Hurricanes have become the most-talked about team at the Women’s NCAA Tournament, thanks in part to their Cinderella run, but also due to their two TikTok-famous players, Hanna and Haley Cavinder.

Hanna did not play in the Elite Eight match-up, staying on the bench the entire game, while her sister Haley managed two points and three rebounds.

The pair have mustered an incredible 166,000 Instagram followers and over 4.5million followers on a very active TikTok account.

The 22-year-olds have used their fledgling fame to earn several NIL deals, and it has been reported that they are now worth $850,000 each.

That lists them as the two highest female college basketball players, and 32nd and 33rd overall in college sports.

Going into the Elite Eight game, Haley Cavinder led the University of Miami in points – averaging 12.6 per game – but it was Jasmyne Roberts who stepped up on the night to record 22 for her team, with four the next best.

LSU now move on to face either No 1 seed South Carolina or No 2 seed Maryland in next weekend’s Final Four, while the other game will be made up of Virginia Tech/Ohio State, against Louisville/Iowa.

For the Cavinder twins, attention will now turn back to social media, with the pair scheduled to release the first part of their March Madness vlog on Monday.

They also host a podcast together, and regularly post across their social media channels.

It has been reported that the Cavinder twins are already worth $850,000 each at the age of just 22
