A CBS director has resigned after an investigation into sexual harassment claims, it has emerged.

Rick Najera had been the long-time directer of Diversity Sketch Comedy Showcase, which shines a light on talent from underrepresented groups.

But he has parted ways with CBS amid allegations he had made lewd comments to performers.

A CBS spokesperson said: ‘In March 2017, CBS became aware of inappropriate comments made during the production of the Diversity Comedy Showcase, and remedial action was taken at that time, which the company felt was appropriate to the matter.

‘Subsequent information has recently emerged.

‘After looking into these reports and a discussion with Mr. Najera, he has resigned from his role with the Diversity Comedy Showcase.’

According to Variety, a first complaint surfaced last February prompting an investigation and disciplinary action.

But last week new information was passed to CBS about the behavior of the writer-producer, whose hits include Hulu series East Los High.

A new probe was launched amid claims that in 2009 he revealed he and his wife were in an open marriage, implying to a performer that he was interested in pursuing a relationship.

He was also accused of making lewd comments to another performer in 2014, Variety reports.

The showcase focuses on comedy talent from underrepresented ethnic and also includes actors with disabilities or LGBT actors.

According to Variety, representatives for Najera declined to comment when contacted.
