For most travelers, airports amount to stress, long lines at security and frantic sprints to the gate.
Even today’s stars, with their first class lounges and private jets, are subjected to some of the same gripes when taking to the skies.
But not too long ago, before the days of budget airlines and baggage fees, air travel was far more glamorous and no one quite took advantage of the opportunity to show off than the celebrities of the 1970s.
Matching fur outfits, smoking in the terminal and posing on the plane stairs before boarding were all par for the course for the world’s biggest names.
Here, in a collection of nostalgic images taken at airports in the US and abroad, all the glitter of the disco era is plain to see.
