Celebrities prove not everyone can tackle a trend at the AACTAS 2023

Australia’s favourite movie and television stars turned out in fine form for the industry night of nights with many jumping on board emerging style trends including the three-piece white power suit and ultra sheer fabrics.

But as the stars hit the red carpet it became obvious some were able to pull off the trending looks much better than others.

Here FEMAIL takes a look at each trend, highlighting the stars who nailed the assignment and those whose ‘cool ‘fits’ didn’t quite make the grade.

Emily De Margheriti showed exactly what not to do when attempting to pull of the chic all-white powersuit look. Her outfit swamped her petite frame and made her look washed-out

Sonia Kruger on the other hand looked flawless as she flaunted the look, showing the world exactly how it is done.

The Huntress Jessica De Gouw also pulled off the white three-piece suit trend, wearing a corset over oversized pants and black strappy shoes for the occasion.

Trains

Elsa Pataky absolutely nailed the train trend on Wednesday, when she graced the red carpet alongside husband Chris Hemsworth.

The blonde beauty was the best dressed woman in the room and cemented her status as an iconic beauty.

Olivia De Jonge on the other hand failed to impress, despite the epic proportions of the train, which did flow well from her shoulders.

The Elvis actress wore snake skin platform heels, a chunky choker and rose eyeshadow to match her gown and while it was obvious a lot of work went into putting the look together it was quickly judged among the worst of the night.

Sheer fabric

Mia Morrissey took the opportunity to have some fun on the red carpet while keeping to the happy colour and sheer fabric trends.

The Home and Away actress proved just how good sheer fabric can look on the red carpet.

Esme James also failed to pull off the iconic ‘sheer’ look on the night, coupling the trend with an oversized train, sequins and huge slit which made the outfit ‘a bit much’ of everything.

The Christmas gift look

Tasma Walton looked incredible dressed in red satin, pairing her gown with sequin ankle boots and statement earrings – she arrived alongside her husband Rove McManus who played it safe in classic black tie

Angela Bishop on the other hand landed on the worst dressed list with her ‘Christmas gift’ look. The gaudy bow on the side of her dress not winning any admirers on the night.
