But some stars took things a step further and truly committed to fresh looks by choosing scissors and dye over hairstylist tricks.

KATY PERRY

After trying to go ‘too blonde’, Katy Perry revealed on The Ellen DeGeneres Show that her hair started falling out, forcing her to get a pixie cut. Luckily, she’s embraced the short crop.
‘Everything is more fun with short hair! I can just get up and go. I feel so liberated with this hair now,’ she told W magazine months after taking the initial plunge.
EMILIA CLARKE

After seven seasons of wearing blonde wigs to portray Daenerys Targaryen on Game of Thrones, Emilia Clarke bleached her naturally brown hair as she geared up to film the series’ final season this fall.
‘I done did it. Mother of dragons meet Emilia. Emilia meet mother of dragons,’ the actress captioned an Instagram photo of her fresh dye job in September.

Kate Hudson has had medium-length blonde hair for much of her career, so when she stepped out with a light brown buzz cut this summer, fans were shocked.
The actress got the chop for her role in Sister, a film written and directed by singer Sia set to come out in 2018.
After debuting her new look, Kate joked to ET that she wanted to copy her 13-year-old son Ryder. ‘Ryder‘s been buzzing his head for a long time. Ryder‘s like, “Mom, you’re cramping my style”,’ she said.

Kim Kardashian often switches up her hair with the help of wigs, but this summer she went platinum for real.
The reality star’s blonde moment might not last for much longer, however. She revealed on Twitter last week that she’s ‘getting over’ the process of maintaining the icy shade.
‘Spent the last few days bleaching my roots (we do it in stages so it doesn’t break off). OMG 13 hours & still going,’ Kim wrote.

The singer recently said that the color is ‘not going anywhere’.

Cara Delevingne showed her dedication to her craft when she shaved her blonde hair for her role in the forthcoming film, Life in a Year.
The model-turned-actress proved that short hair is super versatile over the summer. While on a press tour for the movie Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets, she reinvented the look on the red carpets with hair accessories, 3-D accents, glitter and hair dye.
She switched things up yet again in October when she dyed her growing strands a rich shade of brown.
