Celebrity Big Brother Jasmine Lennard tried to save friend Love Island Sophie Gradon

A reality TV friend of Love Island star Sophie Gradon has claimed she did ‘everything she could to help her’ before her suspected suicide this week.

Jasmine Lennard, 32, has told of how she booked for her friend to fly to Los Angeles to ‘help her get well’.

The former Celebrity Big Brother contestant also accused the ITV2 show of ‘failing her’ over a lack of aftercare.

Sophie, also 32, was found dead at her parent’s home near Newcastle on Wednesday.

She starred in the 2016 series of the show and was part of the first ever bisexual couple on Love Island.

Jasmine Lennard told the Mirror: ‘I did everything I could to help her.

‘But she was deeply depressed after Love Island and they didn’t give a f***.’

The reality star, who has also appeared on Come Dine With Me and the Weakest Link tweeted this week: ‘There is a MASSIVE come down after these shows and no aftercare.

‘Hard to explain but it’s a high doing them then suddenly it’s over. Depression over expectations that don’t materialise. You feel low. Compare yourself to fellow contestants achievements etc.’

MailOnline has contacted ITV for further comment.

This year’s contestant Rosie Williams, 26, who left the villa this week claimed ITV staff have been with her ‘every step of the way’ after the ’emotional rollercoaster’ of being on the show.

But Jasmine claimed her friend Sophie ‘couldn’t handle’ life after the show.

She said: ‘She was a strong independent woman. It’s possible to be strong and fragile at the same time. I’m like that.

‘Very strong but also very fragile too. She was just in the grip of addiction and depression and lost perspective.

‘Her parents were very on top of it though which is what makes it even more tragic.

They hadn’t turned their backs or a blind eye they were totally tuned into her life and doing everything they could to support her and keep her safe and on the right path.

‘They were very actively involved in her life. It’s a heart breaking outcome.’
