Celeste Barber says she HATES being called an influencer – and insists she’s an actor and comedian first despite shooting to fame on Instagram

Celeste Barber is not shy when it comes to parodying celebrities and their risqué photo shoots on her Instagram account.

And in this week’s Stellar magazine, the comedian – who first starred in medical drama All Saints in 2005 – says she ‘hates being called an influencer’.

The 38-year-old rose to fame by recreating outrageous celebrity photos from the likes of Kim Kardashian, Bella Hadid and Jennifer Lopez as far back as 2015.

She has since amassed a following of 7.9million, including big names such as Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Paris Hilton.

Despite the huge fan base, she said: ‘I’m an actor, a comedian and a writer, and I happen to be a bit famous now for doing stuff that resonates with people who don’t always feel great about themselves. That’s how I look at it.’

The Sydney-born beauty noted that she doesn’t take her audience’s trust for granted and has turned down certain jobs that have offered her money and fame.

Last month, she appeared on The Project and revealed that desperate influencers and celebrities often contact her begging to be parodied.

‘Yep. Heaps,’ she said when asked if anyone had asked to be featured on her profile.

‘I also get people going, “Have you seen seen so and so? You need to parody her. She needs the followers.” It’s full on,’ she added.
