Céline Dion begs Drake not to get a tattoo of her face: ‘I love you very much… Don’t do that’

Céline Dion pleads with Drake not to get her face tattooed on his body: ‘I love you very much… Don’t do that’

He’s known for getting tattoos all over his body of other famous musicians, but one star is thus far conspicuously missing from his person.

Musician Drake, who met fellow Canadian icon Celine Dion back in 2017 at the Billboard Music Awards, told her at the time that he was ‘like a year away from a Céline tat.’

And when iHeartRadio Canada brought up the promise in a video interview with Dion published on Wednesday, the 51-year-old My Heart Will Go On crooner addressed the Hotline Bling rapper, 32, directly through the camera and said, ‘Please Drake, I love you very much. Can I tell you something? Don’t do that.’

Drake’s tattoos most recently made headlines this summer, when he was seen rocking an arm tat which showed the Beatles in their Abbey Road album cover pose, with himself a step ahead of them.

The artist apparently got that tattoo to signify that he had beat the Fab Four in certain Billboard chart metrics, yet it isn’t clear if that’s the motivation for his desire to get Celine’s likeness tattooed as well, or if it’s driven by simple adoration.

When Drake met the diva, he indicated his intention of getting her face etched into his rib cage, and during Wednesday’s video interview Celine was immediately taken aback by the idea.

‘You can write me love letters, you can send me autographs for my kids, you can come and visit. I can have you home for lunch or dinner… we can go for a drink,’ she pleaded to the camera. ‘We can sing together. Whatever you want to do — I can talk to your mother — whatever you want! But please…’

Dion’s reasoning behind her objection to the ink was simple: the aging of skin, and how ‘as time goes,’ the likeness of her face will sag and look ‘not prettier.’

‘So please don’t tattoo,’ Celine reasoned.

‘If you do it, just do a fake one so you can change your mind,’ she continued, suggesting that while one day he might want her face tattooed, another day he could easily change a temporary tattoo to that of ‘Barbra’ (most probably referring to fellow diva Barbra Streisand).

Celine is currently in the midst of launching a world tour in support of her upcoming twelfth English-language studio album, Courage, the first to be produced without her late husband and manager René Angélil who died of cancer in early 2016.

Recently, the French-Canadian songstress sat down with NBC’s Sheinelle Jones on the TODAY show and admitted she’s ‘not ready to date’ as she pours herself into her album and the tour.

‘This is my first English album without René,’ she said. ‘When I say without René, without René physically, because René will always be part of me.’
