‘Centrelink bludger’ pleads for advice on how to boost payments to buy dirt bike

‘I’m bored and I want a new dirt bike’: ‘Centrelink bludger’ pleads for advice on how to increase his welfare payments – and receives some VERY surprising tips on how to get more of your tax money

  • Daniel Richards claimed to be a dole bludger with no intention of working
  • His request gathered many abusive comments and a few genuine tips
  • However, it was quickly clear he was trolling to get a rise out of angry workers
  • He then made another post claiming to have actually bought the dirt bike

A man claiming to be a dole bludger with no intention of working sparked outrage by asking how to boost his payments.

‘How do you get more money from Centrelink? I’m bored and want a new dirtbike,’ Daniel Richards asked on a Perth ‘have a whinge’ group.

Dozens of angry commenters told him to ‘get a job’, but he repeatedly shut down this suggestion, saying ‘I don’t work, I’m above you’.

Among the abuse were several apparently genuine suggestions on how to game the system and get more benefits.

Some suggested he have children and claim family support benefits, or create a defacto partnership and use that the same way.

‘Get an advance payment then take your $1200 to [Cash Converters] and buy one there for like $5-700,’ another suggested.

‘That should leave you with enough to buy an ounce of weed, a pouch of tobacco, and a carton of beers to celebrate your new bike purchase.’

Others said it used to be possible to create multiple identities and claim for all of them, but was far more difficult in modern times.

He responded to many of the abusive comments with snappy comebacks clearly designed to further rile them up for his own amusement

However, it quickly became clear Mr Richards was trolling and had hoodwinked the group members who either abused him or offered advice.

He responded to many of the abusive comments with snappy comebacks clearly designed to further rile them up for his own amusement.

‘Your (sic) paying me to sit on the lounge watching Rick and Morty while eating a bowl of Coco Pops while you work,’ he wrote.

‘I am above working and have no need to when kind folk like you are happy to pay me to do what I want to do.

Mr Richards then made a follow-up post thanking everyone for their help and that he had managed to convince Centrelink to give him more money

‘I also see where my money goes at the end of the day and I can tell you now that I spend your money better then (sic) you do.’

Another commenter said he needed a ‘kick up the a**e’, to which he replied ‘yeah I’ve been a real bad boy’.

‘New dirt bike! I guess dreams do come true. Comes to show if you work hard for the things you want in life your dreams will come true,’ he wrote next to a stock photo of the bike he ‘bought’.
