A century-old marble statue that arrived in Australia from France in 1922 has been targeted by vandals.

Police were told the Anzac memorial statue at Walgett’s Memorial Park, in northern NSW, was defaced earlier this week.

One of the statue’s arms was damaged and the marble rifle was stolen.

It’s believed the statue was targeted sometime between Monday and Thursday.

Anybody with dashcam footage, CCTV, or information, is urged to contact police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
