The star was found dead aged 62 last year at his house in north London, which he had moved into just weeks earlier.

His death led to an outpouring of grief from the world of showbiz and a host of stars attended his funeral last May.

RadioTimes columnist journalist Scott Bryan led the condemnation of today’s blunder with the caption: ‘Oh no.’

Other twitter users have slammed the tweet and called for it to be deleted, with one quipping: ‘Supermarket Sweep this under the rug.’

Another Twitter user said: ‘He’s dead, hun.’

‘He died, lads,’ another wrote.

The blunder amassed more than 400 retweets before being taken down after an hour.
