Channel Nine’s The Block biggest reality show of 2017

It dominated TV ratings week after week.

And now it’s official, The Block 2017 is the biggest reality show of the year.

A national audience of 3.754 million viewers watched model Elyse Knowles and her boyfriend Josh Barker were announced as winners of the home renovation show, on Sunday.

Data from OzTam revealed 2.82 million viewers tuned in to watch the grand finale overall, including encore screenings.

However, it wasn’t just on television that the Scott Cam lead show did really well on.

The show’s dedicated followers also used Nine’s digital streaming platform 9Now to catch up on the drama of the program.

The network’s online video on-demand website saw more than 169 million minutes of  The Block streamed this year. 

With its incredible success, The Block has become the second most watched entertainment show, only beaten by sports entertainment show Australian Ninja Warrior.

The online traffic also increased numbers on the network’s adjoining websites 9Honey and their interior design/property website, Honey Homes.

Following its ongoing success the Nine Network has announced it will renew The Block in 2018.

Married At First Sight and Underbelly will also be part of the network’s offering for viewers next year.

Nine will also attempt to recreate the same success seen on the UK dating show Love Island with an Australian version currently in the works.

Renewed! With The Block being a big success for the network yet again, it comes as no surprise that the Nine Network will renew the series in 2018
