Channel Seven secures rights to Stranded on Honeymoon Island – a dating show from MAFS creators

Stranded on Honeymoon Island: New dating show by MAFS creators begins production in Australia – as couples are dumped on a deserted island with nothing but their wedding clothes

Channel Seven has secured the rights to a new dating show from the Danish creators of Married At First Sight, called Stranded on Honeymoon Island.

The network is set to film an Australian version of the popular reality show, which blends the romance of Married At First Sight with the thrilling action of Survivor.

The heart-stopping show sees couples dumped on a deserted island with nothing but their wedding clothes and forced to survive the elements while hopefully developing their romance.

Its format borrows heavily from Married At First Sight, with four couples being put together by a panel of experts who then put their love to the ultimate test.

Seven’s Head of Programming Angus Ross said in a statement the network was confident viewers would fall in love with the new franchise.

‘There is a good reason broadcasters around the world have fallen in love with the show. We’re taking the reality dating genre to a whole new addictive level,’ he said.

‘It blends fledging love with the adventure of a lifetime. We have no doubt viewers will lap up every minute of this bold and exciting new format.’

Stranded on Honeymoon Island Australia will be broadcast on Channel Seven in 2024.

Earlier this month, Married At First Sight’s explosive finale was a massive ratings hit for Channel Nine, drawing 2.124million viewers across Australia.

The cast’s heated reunion on Monday, April 3 had audiences hooked as they watched Harrison Boon and Alyssa Barmonde embarrass themselves over dinner.

The enormous viewership was over double the amount of people who tuned in to episodes aired the week before.

Viewers were gripped as they watched the cast reunite at a dinner party and look back at their time on the dating experiment.

It was particularly popular amongst the coveted 25 – 54 year old demographic, with 455,000 metropolitan viewers watching it as it aired.
