Charlize Theron wows as she attends the Bombshell premiere with Nicole Kidman and Margot Robbie

Leading ladies, Charlize Theron, Nicole Kidman and Margot Robbie graced the carpet of movie Bombshell’s LA premiere on Tuesday, which was held at the Regency theatre.

Bombshell is a political movie about a group of women decide to take on Fox News head Roger Ailes and the toxic atmosphere he presided over at the network and sexual harassment in the workplace and these strong female leads were the perfect choice for the film.

Academy Award-winning actress Charlize lead the carpet, wearing a black Dior dress as she struck a bold stance after talking at length about why this film is so important.

Difference of opinion: She has said she had to put some of her own personal feelings about Kelly (pictured in 2018) to one side in order to take on the role

Role: Charlize, (left) plays former Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly in the film  – Kelly jumped ship from Fox News to NBC in 2017, before she parted ways with the network following a controversy over her comments about ‘blackface’

Theron said in a recent press conference that she was concerned that politics could overshadow the message in the movie, which is about sexual harassment in the workplace.

She plays former Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly, who claims boss Ailes sexually harassed her at the start of her career at Fox but that she initially did not recognize she was being harassed.

Charlize said during a Washington screening of the film: ‘There was an interesting feeling, I think, for all of us with the fact that the real story, the real narrative was that Megyn [Kelly], at that time, was part of the debates and was going through what was a very well-known debate session with [President] Trump.’

‘The strange thing was that the story itself kind of dictated to us that that had to be in the movie, and yet at the same time, I think we were all somewhat concerned that we didn’t want the politics to overshadow what the movie really was about. But the politics really fed into the story.’

The movie is a dramatisation of the sexual harassment scandal that led to the 2016 ousting of late Fox News chairman and CEO Roger Ailes.

She continued: ‘We were really concerned because we didn’t want this to be a political film. This was a film about sexual harassment.

‘This was a film about women not feeling safe in their workspace and not having that equal right to be able to go to work, to be ambitious, to have every other quality that men have in their workspace and not to not have that be turned as a negative against them.

Charlize said she had to put some of her own personal feelings to one side to play Kelly. She said: 'I mean, listen, [Kelly] has made comments that have rubbed me the wrong way and some of them have actually upset me. We have different views'

Theron continued: 'The great thing about when you take on a job as an actor is that the only way to kind of do this job in any capacity whatsoever is you have to be able to remove yourself, your own personal feelings from a lot of that stuff and come at it from an empathetic place'

She said: 'What are we really aiming to tell? Even if we don't agree with Fox News or where your politics land, this is a nonpartisan issue. This shouldn't be something that should be politicized'

Speaking at Business Insider’s IGNITION conference in New York, Kelly said of Ailes in 2016: ‘;He was always bawdy and had an inappropriate sense of humor.

‘The harassment that I went through wasn’t obviously harassment in the beginning,’ noting that it got ‘worse and worse’ so that she ‘couldn’t deny it.’

She said: ‘It was explicit quid pro quo sexual harassment, which was basically: “You sleep with me, and I’ll give you a promotion”.’

Besides an LBD-wearing Charlize was the incomparable Margot Robbie, who plays fictional character, Kayla Pospisil, a figure who serves as a stand-in for young women who didn’t feel safe enough to tell their story.

She wore a lilac Giambattista Valli ensemble which was tied together with a floral sash.

Fellow star Nicole Kidman made a strong statement, choosing to suit up to attend the premiere about women who stand up for themselves in a male dominated industry.

She looked sharp in a dazzling Saint Laurent suit with angular shoulders and a skinny tie. Her jacket was covered with a glimmering grid. Meanwhile silken lapels and slim pleat-front trousers offset her couture jacket’s shape.

Nicole, plays retired Fox News anchor Gretchen Carlson in the project.

The real life Gretchen spoke out after watching the movie’s trailer and said: ‘Yeah. It’s a strange and frustrating reality that I can’t partake in any of these projects based on my settlement’

‘It’s why I’m working so hard on Capitol Hill so that nobody else has to be handcuffed anymore. And I’m trying to pass the bill to take the muzzle off of women who face harassment in the workplace so that they’re not forced into signing NDAs and have to go to the secret chamber of arbitration where nobody ever knows what the hell happened to them.

‘It’s frustrating cause I can say, “Hey wait a minute, you know, that was my life!” But the trailer got a tremendous amount of attention and for me, that’s what this is all about. In the end, I can’t participate, but it’s all about continuing the dialogue.’
