Charlotte Freud’s biting response to suggestions her mega-rich life must be a dream

Rupert Murdoch’s granddaughter Charlotte Freud has given a less-than-peachy account of what life is like growing up mega-rich.

On Saturday, Charlotte uploaded a photo of her herself posing in front of a fountain in Las Vegas, prompting one fan to suggest her life must be a breeze.

‘Must be nice being Rupert’s granddaughter’, the fan commented.

‘It’s a healthy balance of nice vacations and PTSD!’ Rupert Murdoch’s granddaughter Charlotte Freud, 21, (pictured) shared a biting response to suggestions her mega-rich life must be a dream on Saturday

The LA-based socialite said her life was anything but idyllic, however, replying: ‘It’s a healthy balance of nice vacations and PTSD!’

After Charlotte uploaded a gallery of romantic photos, fans were quick to speculate that Charlotte was in Sin City to marry her DJ fiancé Lukey Storey.

Charlotte was quick to put rumours to bed, writing: ‘You clearly don’t know me at all – why would I rob myself of the day where I’m the centre of attention and hundreds of people have to tell me I’m pretty?’

Her PR guru father Matthew Freud meanwhile told The Mail on Sunday’s Charlotte Griffiths that she is planning to walk down the aisle next year.

Charlotte, who has restyled herself as singer Tiarlie, got engaged to Lukey, 35, in July – three years after meeting at London private members club Laylow.

Charlotte, who has been open about her previous drug use, told Tatler that the the pair were both addicts when they met at the west London private members club – where Storey was DJ and Tiarlie was working as a hostess having dropped out of school.

She said the couple had an ‘immediate obsession’ with each other, but admitted ‘it was kind of a mad relationship, we were kind of just using buddies’.

When Storey joined a 12-step programme to tackle his addiction, the singer admitted she was devastated that he cut her out of her life because of her substance abuse.

Charlotte has long been a somewhat unexpected figure in her rich and privileged family.

Back in 2019, she told her Instagram followers her mother was worried about her fashion choices leading up to a family wedding. She said her mother even hired her a personal shopper to ensure the frock she chose wouldn’t show too much cleavage.

‘My grandma’s getting married, so mum’s sending me to a personal shopper to make sure I cover my t**s up for the ceremony,’ the then 18-year-old told her 6,548 followers.

She later shared some of the looks, with comments such as: ‘If I must look ridiculous in exchange for free champagne, so be it’ and ‘the s*** I do for this family, gawd.’

But being raised in such a powerful family has its perks, too, particularly for an aspiring musician like Charlotte.

For her 17th birthday, Charlotte’s PR guru father was able to persuade U2 frontman Bono to sing for her.

He planned a party for then Vogue editor Edward Enninful and a host of fashion icons – including Victoria Beckham – and invited Charlotte to tag along.

As the clock struck midnight on her birthday, the entire guest list began singing her a happy birthday, with Bono at the helm.
