An Uber passenger has urged Aussies to double-check their receipts after they were charged twice for using a toll road during their ride.
The customer uploaded a copy of their receipt to social media on Wednesday after they used the rideshare service for a trip in Melbourne.
‘There is a glitch that has affected both myself and a few colleagues. If you enter CityLink from Kings Way you get charged for tolls twice,’ they wrote.
The receipt showed the passenger was charged $10.29 toll fare twice while they travelled from Kings Way to Toorak Road via the West Gate Freeway.
The extra expense was included in the additional travel fees the customer was charged, including an 85c booking fee and government levy worth $1.32.
The total cost of the fare was $61.49.
A spokeswoman told Daily Mail Australia that Uber was aware of the glitch affecting some customers travelling over the CityLink tollway in Melbourne.
‘We are working to repair the glitch as quickly as possible and refund impacted riders,’ the spokeswoman said.

‘We apologise for any inconvenience caused, and encourage riders to reach out to our customer service team via the Help section in the Uber app if they have any queries about the charges on their trip receipt.’
Several Aussies said they had also copped the double toll charge.
‘This happened to me too. They refused to refund,’ one person wrote.
‘Happened to me and they refunded straight away,’ another said.
‘Omg ridiculous,’ a third added.
Others questioned why the glitch hasn’t been fixed, claiming they spotted the error years ago.
‘Had this a lot when [I] used to Uber home after work – they always refunded it, but so odd the issue continued to persist – this was pre-Covid that I used to take that route,’ one person wrote.
‘This still hasn’t been fixed? Been here almost as long as Uber’s been in Melbourne,’ said another.

Other riders said they were compensated for the double charge right away.
‘I contested this once and got refunded the toll fares because they could have just taken [the] Burwood highway or the M3 to get to the suburbs,’ one said.
It’s understood Uber is working to provide refunds to riders impacted by the error and affected customers have been urged to contact the rideshare company.
