A new homeowner got a nasty shock when they moved into their new property to find a very rude word had been left in the back garden.

The new buyer and seller of the Australian home had reportedly got into a disagreement over a chicken coop at the back of the house.

According to reports, the buyer had asked the seller to remove the coop and demanded it be replaced with grass.

But on moving into the house the buyer got an unpleasant surprise when they discovered their new lawn spelled the word ‘c**t’.

As the owners got ready to settle into their new home, they came across one little hitch (pictured)

The bizarre message appeared to a parting shot from the old owners who were clearly still annoyed about the chicken coop request.

A photograph of the cheeky message was posted to Reddit on Thursday.

‘My uncle’s real estate agency sold a property a few months ago where the seller and buyer got in a disagreement over a chicken coop that had to be removed and replanted with grass,’ the post said.

‘It just grew in.’

Users took to the social news aggregation site to share in the hilarity of the moment.

‘Is that even a bad word in Australia?’ one person posted.

Another user tweeted, ‘I’ve heard the saying ‘Australia, where you call you [sic] mates, c**t, and c***s, mate.’
