Cheery Karl Stefanovic continues to ignore career crisis while shopping for Christmas decorations

He’s been putting on a brave face over the last few days as he weathers the storm surrounding his crumbling career.

And Karl Stefanovic continued to smile while shopping for Christmas decorations with new wife Jasmine Yarbrough in Mosman on Sunday.

The former Today show host, 44, was seen giggling like a school boy as picked out several items, including a giant inflatable Santa.

Karl was like a kid in a candy store as he also purchased a pair of toy soldiers, Christmas cards, wrapping paper and some last minute gifts.  

However, his new wife Jasmine, 34, appeared downcast at times, looking down as the couple walked through the upscale Sydney suburb hand-in-hand.

She perked up a little bit inside the store as she shared a few jokes with her beau. 

And on the way to their destination, Karl gave his wife an affection pat on the bottom as they walked along the street. 

The couple were both casual chic for the shopping trip, with Karl showing off his Cabo tan in a pair of white shorts and a navy blue T-shirt unbuttoned to reveal his chest.

Meanwhile, Mara & Mine designer Jasmine flaunted a hint of cleavage in a black linen dress belted at the waist, teamed with a pair of sandals from her own shoe collection.

The couple have had a tumultuous few days after Karl got the sack from the Today show last Wednesday while he was on his honeymoon in Aspen. 

The pair have put on a united front in the days following, after arriving back in Sydney ahead of Christmas on Friday.

Meanwhile, it has been revealed that following his axing from the Nine program, after 14 years in the role, Karl is keen to ‘branch out’ and land a breakfast radio show.

The Sydney Morning Herald claimed on Sunday that Karl’s ‘ideal’ would be ‘something primetime in TV and radio at breakfast.’

‘He loves broadcasting,’ a source close to Karl allegedly told the publication.

‘The next stop is for [Karl] to branch out into radio and move into a new phase of his TV career.’

Daily Mail Australia has contacted Karl’s representative for comment.

Despite the controversy surrounding Karl’s exit from Today, it was confirmed on Wednesday that he will remain at Nine for now. 

Darren Wick, director of news and current affairs at Nine, issued a statement on Wednesday about his future at the network.

‘Karl remains on contract with the network and will continue to host This Time Next Year, which records in February,’ he said in a statement.

After returning to Australia with wife Jasmine on Friday following their honeymoon, Karl was looking to the future with much positivity.

‘I’m moving forward with a sense of excitement about what’s to come,’ he told the waiting media at the airport.
