Chef Pete Evans announces range of healthy pet food

He’s the TV chef who is known for encouraging the Australian public to adopt a paleo diet.

And now Pete Evans is championing a change in the diets of our furry four-legged friends.   

Taking to Instagram on Saturday, the 44-year-old revealed a billboard promoting his new range of pet food products.

The sign showed Pete next to a happy dog, with the slogan: ‘Tested on humans!’

‘Pretty stoked to announce our healthy pets range will be launching Very soon,’ he revealed.

Pete slammed his soon-to-be competitors in the post: ‘The state of the pet food that dominates the marketplace for pets is horrendous and I would say poisonous for our furry friends.’

He also linked existing pet food to the cause of animals’ poor health: ‘A lot of vets promote this cr*p and wonder why so many dogs and cats have such poor health.’

Pete claimed more would be revealed on his site in the coming weeks.

Daily Mail Australia have reached out to Pete Evans for comment. 

Living on farm with numerous animals in Northern New South Wales with wife Nicola Robinson, he added: ‘This is something that is very close to Nic’s and my hearts.’

They wed in April 2016, with Pete sharing two children with ex-wife Astrid Evans.

The My Kitchen Rules judge’s ideas about food and nutrition have repeatedly come under fire in the past.

Pete has made a slew of controversial claims over the years, including that vegan women should eat meat during pregnancy, that osteoporosis sufferers should not eat dairy, and that Wi-Fi causes health problems.

His children’s paleo cook book Bubba Yum Yum was also pulled from shelves, with an expert from the Public Health Association of Australia saying that a bone broth recipe for infants could kill a baby due to its high vitamin A content. 

In March, two leading Australian dietitians slammed the celebrity chef, claiming that he lacks the knowledge necessary to dispense the kind of health advice he has been promoting.
