The 29-year-old previously spent two seasons at Chelsea but struggled to make an impact in west London after his £60million arrival – scoring 24 times for the Blues.

The Spain international was then shipped out on loan to Atletico Madrid in 2019, before making his move permanent a year later.

Morata has since spent the last two seasons on loan at Italian outfit Juventus, netting 32 goals in 92 appearances for the Bianconeri.

The marksman returned to the Wanda Metropolitano this summer with the expectation of departing Atleti, yet he has started both of the club’s LaLiga games so far this term.

Morata scored a brace in Diego Simeone’s side’s 3-0 opening day victory over Getafe, which caught the attention of Chelsea according to Sport.

The Blues submitted a player-plus-cash offer for Aubameyang earlier in the window, which would have seen Marcos Alonso move to the Nou Camp, yet Barca are proving difficult with their demands.
