Chelsea are reportedly set to offer midfielder N’Golo Kante a lucrative new contract. 

According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, the Blues are determined to secure Kante’s future, with the Frenchman having just over two years remaining on his current deal and attracting interest following his stunning season.

Last summer Chelsea rejected two bids for Kante, and they are now set to open negotiations with the 30-year-old in the next few weeks.

Despite enduring some difficult moments towards the end of Frank Lampard’s tenure, Kante got back to his best as the campaign wore on and he proceeded to produce an outstanding performance in Chelsea’s Champions League final success against Manchester City. 

The Frenchman, who has impressed at Euro 2020 during the world champions’ opening two games, has been tipped by many to win the Ballon d’Or, including his country’s president Emmanuel Macron.

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel, who has helped to get the best out of Kante, is eager to tie him down while the player is also understood to be keen to extend his stay at Stamford Bridge.

Kante joined Chelsea in 2016 off the back of winning the Premier League title with Leicester in his first season in English football.

Since making the switch to Stamford Bridge, Kante has won the Premier League, the FA Cup, the Champions League and the Europa League. 

Kante has played 218 games for Chelsea, often impressing with his ability to break up play while also being capable of pushing forward to excellent effect.
