Thibaut Courtois has left the door open to a move to Real Madrid after admitting he would like to spend more time with his children, who live in the Spanish capital.

Courtois is a protracted transfer target for Real Madrid, who are desperately seeking to add a world class goalkeeper to their ranks this summer.

The Belgian, who spent three seasons on loan at Atletico Madrid following his move to Chelsea in 2011, penned a five-year deal at Stamford Bridge back in 2014 which expires next summer.

And although he insisted he enjoys life in the English capital, he cannot deny the urge to see his children more often and hopes to change the situation soon.

‘I love living in London. Madrid and London are great,’ Courtois said after Belgium’s stunning 3-2 win over Japan on Monday to reach the World Cup quarter-final.

‘The only thing is that my children live in Madrid. I would like them to be close.

‘That doesn’t mean I’m going to come back, but for me they are very important and I’m going to do something to see them more.’

Although Chelsea fans would have hoped to seek reassurances from their No 1, Courtois went on to insist that a decision would not be made until after the World Cup.

‘I’m not going to talk about that now. I just said that I’ll see everything after the World Cup,’ Courtois added.

‘The most important thing is my children and I’ll decide what’s best for me in everything.’
