Chemist Warehouse owner and his Real Housewives of Melbourne spouse drop $43MILLION on trophy home

One of Australia’s most powerful retailers and his star reality television partner have smashed the record for the most expensive home ever sold at auction Down Under.

Chemist Warehouse co-founder Sam Gance and Real Housewives of Melbourne cast member and Raw Essentials Tea founder Janet Roach paid an eye-watering $43million for the two-storey trophy home at 47 Lansell Road, Toorak.

Ms Roach, 63, is the outspoken headliner of the long-running reality show, famous for her one-liners, such as ‘I don’t like trouble – unless I’m causing it!’

Mr Gance and Ms Roach are understood to have beaten one other bidder in a private auction to secure the grand five-bedroom, architect-designed mansion, which would be at home on the cover of any glossy lifestyle magazine.

Ms Roach, who is also the founder of Raw Essentials Tea, smashed the record price paid for a home at auction in Australia with Mr Gance when they paid $43milion

They bought the 3,330 square metre property on Monday from Blue Energy founder Mark Healey and his wife Kelly, according to Nine newspapers.

It is understood the Healeys bought it for $20million in 2015 and spent $15million upgrading it with Carr Design architects and Britain’s Helen Green Design Studio.

Premium agency Kay & Burton described the six-garage, two-level mansion as ‘exquisitely crafted high-end luxury’ in their promotions.

Ms Roach and Mr Gance will share the ultra luxury 3,330 square metre property with her two miniature terriers Bella and Boychik

The property has some incredible features such as 10 opulent living areas, including a showpiece palatial 77 square metre family area, billiards room with bar, and separate home cinema.

The combined area of the two adjacent children’s play rooms on the ground floor are larger than many inner city apartments.

It also has a gym, scullery, staff room, designer landscaped gardens, a pavillion, lap pool massage room and a tennis court.

There’s also an ‘outdoor leisure centre’ beside the pool and pool house.

Mr Gance and Ms Roach, who have been an item since 2016, will share the home with their two miniature terriers, Bella and Boychik.

It was the second Tookrak mansion sold in the past week for tens of millions.

The six-bedroom, seven-bathroom property sold for more than $30million, realestate.com.au reported on Thursday.

Coppel first listed the museum-style property back in May with a price guide between $30million and $33million.

Although 47 Lansell Road is the most expensive ever bought at auction it’s still not the record price paid in Melbourne.

In 2018 an unnamed Asian buyer paid art dealer Rod Menzies $52.5 million for Stinington at 336 Glenferrie Road, Malvern in a private treaty sale.
