‘It’s so exciting I can’t believe I’m back [my fans] they’ve been waiting for so long they’ve been so patient with us,’ she said.

‘I’m so glad, I’m so happy it’s out there now, because the anticipation of waiting for it to be out there was killing me.

‘Something inside of us was just like I’m ready and I wasn’t ready for the longest time, even that [return] was appealing.

Cheryl and Liam announced their split in July – just over a year after welcoming their son Bear. They first began dating in 2016 following her divorced from ex-husband Jean-Bernard Fernandez-Versini.

The duo welcomed Bear in March 2017, but called time on their relationship in the months that followed their son’s first birthday.

Cheryl has candidly spoken about her split from Liam while promoting her comeback to the charts in recent weeks. She said her former boyfriend Payne had wanted to be a father from 16, and was happy to have a family but ‘it didn’t work out’.

The former couple first met on The X Factor in 2008 when Liam was just 14 and Cheryl was a judge. She has since claimed that Liam is the ‘only man to remain faithful’ to her and she is content with being ‘single’ now she has the ‘man of her dreams’, son Bear.

Proving there’s no bad blood between the exes, Liam was seen congratulating Cheryl on her musical comeback as she released new track Love Made Me Do It, along with the single’s music video on Friday.

He tweeted: ‘Congratulations @CherylOfficial on your first release in 4 years can’t wait for everyone to hear the rest.’

Cheryl, meanwhile, was left overwhelmed by the support she received from fans. She tweeted: ‘I CAN NOT BELIEVE THIS!! thank you so much.’
