A couple have been charged in connection with the murder of their baby on Christmas Day last year.
Stephen Boden, 29, of Barrow Hill, Derbyshire, and Shannon Marsden, 21, appeared at South Derbyshire Magistrates’ Court accused of murdering 10-month-old Finley Boden on December 25, 2020.
The pair were charged with murder and two counts of neglect or abandonment of their son between November 17 and Christmas Day last year.
Boden, who remained in handcuffs throughout the hearing, was dressed in a grey jacket and grey trousers and was joined in the dock by two officers on Friday morning.
Marsden wore a grey sweatshirt and black jeans but was not handcuffed. Neither defendant was asked to enter a plea.
After a shorting hearing on Friday the pair were told they will spend the festive period, including the one year anniversary of Finley’s death, behind bars while they await trial.

Both defendants spoke only when confirming their names, address and dates of birth. No details of the alleged murder were discussed in court on Friday.
Paramedics rushed to a property in Old Whittington in the early hours of Christmas Day last year after reports that baby Finley was unresponsive.
The 10-month-old was taken to hospital, but was pronounced dead later that day.
Boden and Marsden have both been remanded in prison until they appear at Derby Crown Court on January 4, 2022.
