Chicago Med alum Torrey DeVitto gets engaged to boyfriend Jared LaPine on her Michigan farm during Labor Day holiday: ‘It was a big surprise’

Actress Torrey DeVitto and her boyfriend Jared LaPine are officially engaged after just six months of dating.

LaPine popped the question while the couple spent the summer at her sprawling farm in Michigan over Labor Day weekend.

The proposal stunned DeVitto, with a source telling Us Weekly: ‘It was a big surprise, even though they had talked about it someday, she didn’t know it was happening that week at all.’

The insider added that the couple haven’t begun planning the wedding but that DeVitto is ‘eager to start.’

She and LaPine only recently confirmed their relationship by sharing photos of one another to social media in June.

‘Enter Cheesy/Sappy line here,’ LaPine captioned a pair of selfies taken with the Chicago Med alum on June 9. 

DeVitto followed up by gushing about her now-fiance in the comments section, writing, ‘I love us.’

Not long after, the actress shared several photos of herself and LaPine hanging out in Michigan.

‘Michigan Poppies and Pride #HappiestPlaceOnEarth,’ she wrote in the caption of the post which included pictures with LaPine and her sister Maryelle DeVitto. 

She was previously married to The Vampire Diaries star Paul Wesley from 2011 to 2013.

DeVitto got her first big starring role in the ABC Family drama series Beautiful People (2005-2006).

She followed up with recurring roles in The CW drama series One Tree Hill (2008-2009); the ABC Family/Freeform mystery drama series Pretty Little Liars (2010-2017); and The CW fantasy drama series The Vampire Diaries (2012-2013).

The Huntington, New York native would go on to play Dr. Natalie Manning in the NBC medical drama series Chicago Med (2015-2021).

When departing the series, DeVitto shared a heartwarming statement to fans on Instagram, where she thanked ‘loyal watchers’ for their support over six seasons.

She ultimately returned as Dr. Manning for the show’s season seven premiere in September 2021 and for an episode in season eight in May. 

Like the love of his life, LaPine has worked in the entertainment industry, but on the other side of the camera as a co-writer and co-director of three short films with Wil Granaderos: Welcome Home, The One That Rolled Away and The One That Likes You.

He has also worked on children’s programming, including the Disney Channel series Dog With A Blog, I Didn’t Do It and K.C. Undercover, according to his IMDb.
