Chicago police are conducting an investigation after possible human remains were found in an inner-city dumpster on Friday.
A building engineer called authorities to the city’s downtown neighborhood of The Loop after discovering what appeared to be five hearts.
Police cars descended on the 0-100 block of East Benton Place shortly after 9.30 AM before the area was sealed off from the public.
Detectives were seen pacing the area on Friday afternoon, and the Cook County medical examiner is now looking into whether or not the organs are human.

The lane way where the discovery was made is close to many hotels and tourist attractions, including The Chicago Theatre and Millennium Park.
The Loop neighborhood is considered one of the safest in Chicago – a city that has long grappled with violent crime.
Last year, there were 561 homicides reported in the city – a decrease of about 100 from 2017.
However, Chicago – which is the country’s third most populous city – still had more murders than New York and Los Angeles combined.
The Cook County medical examiner is now looking into whether or not the organs found in the dumpster are human
