The Chiefs and Chris Jones have reportedly agreed to a record contract to keep the two-time All Pro in Kansas City.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Jones is set to be paid a guaranteed $95million over five years – the highest-ever annual salary for a defensive tackle.

Jones posted 10.5 sacks and 13 tackles for loss last season.

Last month, following Kansas City’s overtime win against the 49ers in the Super Bowl, Jones said he would return to the Chiefs during the team’s parade.

‘I need three of those rings, baby, we ain’t done yet. Kansas City we will be back here next year. And for those who want Chris Jones gone, I ain’t going nowhere, baby!’

Jones played under a one-year, $19.5million contract last season after he and the Chiefs were unable to agree to a long-term deal.

Elsewhere on the Chiefs’ defense, the future of cornerback L’Jarius Sneed is quickly becoming a major offseason storyline as several trade suitors have reportedly emerged.

Sneed was given the franchise tag by Kansas City and is now under contract for the 2024 season at a salary cap figure of $19.8 million.

However, USA Today has reported that no fewer than seven teams have expressed an interest in trading for Sneed: The Vikings, Colts , Titans, Patriots, Falcons, Jaguars and Lions.

Finalizing a trade would require approval for Sneed, who has the opportunity to negotiate a long-term extension with suitors before any deal could be finalized.
