Child molester sent back to prison after offering to babysit for a friend

Marie Raison, 29, of Chadwell Heath, East London, was jailed for six years in 2014

A former nursery nurse who sexually abused children to please a paedophile has been sent back to jail for two years after offering to babysit for a friend.

Marie Raison, 29, of Chadwell Heath, East London, sent explicit photos of her touching a five-year-old girl and a nine-month-old baby to convicted child abuser Paul Dent, 33.

The pair met on an internet dating site and their conversations quickly turned to sex, with Dent actively encouraging Raison to molest the young children.

She was jailed for six years in 2014 while Dent was imprisoned for seven years.

Judge Martyn Zeidman QC told Raison they were the ‘most horrific of offences’ and made her subject to a sexual harm prevention order to protect the public.

But following her release from jail in October 2016, having served half her sentence, she applied for a job as a sales representative and failed to mention her conviction.

Raison went to a male colleague’s home in South London to watch boxing last summer and offered to babysit for him.

She breached the order which made clear she could not have unsupervised contact with any children.

Raison also became friendly with another male colleague who had children as young as five, Snaresbrook Crown Court heard.

Jemma Levinson, defending, told the court that Raison came from a broken home and was ‘exposed to her mother’s sexual activity’ from a young age.

She also said she self-harmed from a young age and her ‘abusive’ adult relationships contributed to her offending.

Judge Zeidman told Raison: ‘You socialised at a house where it is agreed young people were present and those responsible for those youngsters were not aware of your past.

‘No actual harm was caused to the children but a real risk was there and that’s the purpose of these orders: to reduce risk and protect young, vulnerable children.

‘The safety and protection of young children has to be my main concern. I am told you are an enhanced prisoner but you are vulnerable and deeply troubled.

‘You have clearly had serious issues in your life but they are not as important as ensuring compliance with these orders and protecting the public.

‘I make the point that the fraud and your failure to comply with the Sex Offenders’ Register are less serious than the other three breaches.

‘You need to make sure that you never again breach these orders because if you do it will be a sentence at the top end.’

While serving her six-year term, the former school cleaner was beaten by fellow inmates, Neah Tuohy, 25, and Emily Bray, 23, in a vigilante attack.

The pair repeatedly punched Raison in the face while she completed a puzzle in HMP Holloway in January 2016.

Raison denied fraud by false representation, three counts of breaching a sexual harm prevention order and failing to comply with the Sex Offenders’ Register – but she was convicted at Bexley Magistrates’ Court.

She showed no emotion as she was jailed for two years and made the subject of a 20-year sexual harm prevention order.
