An Australian police investigation into child pornography has reportedly saved a six-year-old from a porn ring and led to the arrest of an alleged child rapist in Canada.
The investigation began in Australia after graphic images were shared by paedophiles on the internet and a trail of clues led to Canada.
Police in Winnipeg were notified of an investigation involving Australian police including the South Australia Joint Anti Child Exploitation Team – a partnership between the South Australian police Special Crimes branch and the Australian Federal Police.

A man and two women were arrested in South Australia and New South Wales last week.
A 34-year-old man and 45-year-old woman from Adelaide’s northern suburbs and a 32-year-old woman from regional NSW were all arrested and face child pornography charges.
Detective Inspector Catherine Hilliard of SA police said she has not ruled out further arrests, saying the investigation remains ongoing.

‘This case highlights that police agencies develop cohesive partnerships to promptly respond to the global sharing of child exploitation material, and prevent and detect child sexual abuse.’
Constable Jay Murray of Winnipeg police said Australian police told them about their investigation on August 25, according to CBC News.
He said the arrest of a man in Australia was ‘critical to identifying a suspect’.
In a statement, Winnipeg police said a six-year-old victim was raped between January and August this year at a residence in the suburb of East Kildonan.
‘Images of the sexual assaults were subsequently shared using an online messaging application with various users.’

The alleged child rapist, a 28-year-old man, was charged with sexual assault, sexual interference and possession of child pornography.
