However, more than 48 hours since the boy’s body was found, no one has come forward to claim him.

Cops are still waiting on the results of the autopsy but say they are currently treating the boy’s death as a homicide.

There are no missing person reports across Texas or the US that match the description of the missing child.

‘Somebody knows this kid. Whether it’s a family member, a friend, day care provider, teacher, next door neighbor, guy at the grocery store that’s seen this kid come in. Somebody somewhere here has seen this child,’ GPD Captain Josh Schirard told ABC News.

Police are appealing for anyone who recognizes the boy from the sketch to contact them (pictured are police at the scene where the body was found)

The boy is described as about 3 feet tall, slim and possibly Hispanic with black hair and brown eyes.

Locals held a vigil for the unnamed victim on Saturday.

‘It’s just heartbreaking that this little boy doesn’t have anybody to claim him,’ Tina Bebout, who organized a vigil Saturday, told KHOU. ‘I mean, this boy did not deserve this, and I couldn’t sit at home and not do anything.’

Anyone who recognizes the child is urged to call Galveston Police (409) 765-3776 or Crimestoppers at (409) 763-TIPS.
