A children’s toy car burst into flames just moments after the kids who were playing in it escaped.
The frightening footage was captured by Michelle Kline from Massachusetts who was just feet away as her two children started driving up a small hill in her neighbor’s yard in North Andover near Boston.
All of sudden, there was a hot electrical smell and she noticed some smoke coming out of the little hood.

Fire suddenly took hold of the car seemingly without any warning whatsoever

The car burst into flames and it is thought that a problem with the batteries could be to blame

Had Kline not been close by, her children would have been trapped by their seatbelts and would have surely been severely burned
Kline rushed over and dragged her 16-month-old and three-year-old out of the vehicle.
‘I think that was the really scary thing because they were buckled in and they are both little so neither of them could have gotten themselves out,’ Michelle Kline told CBS Boston.
Just moments later, the entire vehicle burst into flames and within two minutes, all that remained was a small bucket of charred plastic and metal.
‘It was alarming how quickly it went up. It went from a little bit of smoke to a full-on fire within, like, two minutes; that was the scary thing,’ Kline said.

Two minutes later, the toy was blazing and there was nothing left of the car whatsoever

After the incident there was nothing left but charred burned-out wreckage
The toy car, a SPORTrax Awesome XL model which cost $500 was only bought recently as a birthday present for the Klines three-year-old, Quincy, and his little sister, 18-month-old Nellie.
Despite the incident, the manufacturer has refused to speak with the couple.
However, a fire inspector told the pair that a number of fail safes were put into the car to stop such incidents from happening.
North Andover Fire Chief Bill McCarthy said it appeared the fire started where the batteries were located but it was hard to tell because there’s not much left of the car.

The fire was so intense that it left the grass blackened and burned
The fire department has since notified the Consumer Product Safety Commission, fire marshal, distributor and manufacturer.
‘Just to see if this is an isolated incident with this one particular vehicle or is at potential issue that it’s happened somewhere else,’ said McCarthy.
Meanwhile, the Klines kids have been forced to go back to playing with one of their old toys – an old pedal bike.
