Chinese wife sits on husband’s car bonnet as he drives

Mobile phone footage emerged online showing a woman sitting dangerously on the bonnet of a moving car in north-western China.

It is reported that the woman had had a quarrel with her husband and was trying to stop him from leaving.

The driver was confirmed to be the woman’s husband. He was given two demerit points and a fine by the police.

According to a video uploaded by People’s Daily Online today, the woman was wearing a pink top and sitting on the bonnet of a black car. A man can be seen steering the wheel calmly on the road.

An onlooker told Kan Kan News, a Chinese TV station, that the man continued driving for a few hundred metres with his wife on the bonnet.

The incident took place on Chiyang Road in Xianyang, Shaanxi Province at 1pm on September 1.

Shop owners along the street told the Kan Kan News reporter that the man was not driving in high speed and pulled over shortly.

After investigation, local policemen confirmed that the driver was the woman’s husband. His surnamed was revealed to be Zhao.

It’s reported that Mr Zhao and his wife had had a row over family matters. 

Mr Zhao’s wife attempted to stop him from driving away, so she sat on the car bonnet. However, Mr Zhao ignored and drove onto the road.

Mr Zhao received a 200 yuan (£23.70) fine and two penalty points, according to article 90 of Road Traffic Safety Law in China.
