The magazine’s online site has shared a recipe for a chocolate ‘soup’ cake, which involves ‘folding’ 250ml of soup, flour, cocoa and sour cream into a mixture of butter, brown sugar and eggs to create a chocolatey batter.

After baking for an hour and a half, the mixture resembles a traditional cake.

But what does it actually taste like?

‘I know that’s crazy, but my very picky husband, who never eats sweets, ate three pieces in one sitting,’ she wrote.

‘The tomato soup adds such a density to each cake, giving every bite an almost dream-like texture.
