Social media users have heaped praise on an auburn-haired choirboy who was filmed singing his heart out in Westminster Abbey during the Queen’s state funeral.
Throughout the service to celebrate the life of Queen Elizabeth II, the Choir of Westminster Abbey sang hymns and psalms as well as the National Anthem.
As the Queen’s coffin was carried inside the 753-year-old abbey in central London, the young choristers sang lines, known as The Sentences, from Revelation 14:13, used at every state funeral since the early 18th century.
And while many praised the choir’s performance throughout the service, social media users were particularly impressed with one of their number.
The choirboy could be seen singing his heart out during the Psalm 42: 1-7 during the service, moving expressively as the choral music filled the abbey.
One social media user said: ‘The little red-headed choirboy has stolen my heart with his earnestness.’

The Choir of Westminster Abbey is renowned worldwide and comprises of up to thirty boys and twelve professional adult singers, known as Lay Vicars.
Meanwhile, The Choir of Her Majesty’s Chapel Royal, who also took part in the service, can trace its history to the fifteenth century.
The Choir of Westminster Abbey sang various meaningful hymns during the historic ceremony, including The Lord’s My Shepherd, I’ll Not Want, which was sung at the Queen’s wedding to the Duke of Edinburgh in 1947.
The same hymn was also included at the funeral of the Queen’s father George VI in 1952, but with slightly different wording.
The funeral of Queen Elizabeth II took place at Westminster Abbey today before Her Majesty is laid to rest alongside her late husband, Prince Philip, at St George’s Chapel in Windsor.

Buckingham Palace released an official image for the funeral with the order of service including all the details of readings, hymns and music selected.
‘Much of the music at today’s State Funeral was selected for its special significance to HM Queen Elizabeth II, and many of the choices also have a long association with Westminster Abbey,’ the abbey posted on Twitter.
The service was conducted by The Very Reverend Dr David Hoyle MBE, Dean of Westminster and sung by the Choir of Westminster Abbey and the Choir of the Chapel Royal, St James’s Palace, (Joseph McHardy, Director of Music) under the direction of James O’Donnell, Organist and Master of the Choristers, Westminster Abbey.
The State Trumpeters of the Household Cavalry were led by Trumpet Major Julian Sandford. The Fanfare Team of the Household Division Bands was conducted by Lieutenant Colonel David Barringer MBE, Commanding Officer, Household Division Bands. The organ was played by Peter Holder, Sub-Organist, Westminster Abbey.

Buckingham Palace released the full Order of Service for Her Majesty the Queen’s funeral
London was at full capacity as hundreds of thousands of well-wishers descended on the capital to watch the processions unfold throughout the historic day of mourning.
The Queen’s coffin, which has been walked past and grieved over by thousands of mourners over the last week, was carried in a procession to Westminster Abbey at 10.44am before the State Funeral began at 11am.
Three hymns, two anthems and newly commissioned pieces were played on the Abbey’s organ during the service, which began at 11am today.
The Queen has been lying in state at Westminster Hall with both her children and grandchildren mounting separate vigils on Friday and Saturday respectively.
The coffin was then be transported by the State Gun Carriage which has been in the care of the Royal Navy since 1901, when it was removed from active service for the funeral of Queen Victoria.
The carriage has since been used for the funerals of King Edward VII in 1910 and King George V in 1936, King George VI in 1952, Sir Winston Churchill in 1965 and Lord Mountbatten in 1979.
In total, about 2,000 people including world leaders and former UK prime ministers attended the funeral which began at 11am following a procession from Westminster Hall.
