CNN anchor Chris Cuomo has finally emerged from his basement after testing positive for coronavirus last month.

Chris made the announcement from his family home on Instagram on Monday night exactly two weeks after he was first quarantined.

‘This is the dream. Just to be back up here doing normal things,’ he said as he embraced his wife, Cristina.

In a minute-long video, the popular television news anchor got his daughter Bella to film himself walking up the stairs from his basement quarantine back up to the main floor.

‘All right, here it is. The official re-entry from the basement. Cleared by CDC. This what i have been dreaming of literally for weeks,’ Cuomo said.

Last week, he announced that she had also been infected with the illness however she has also now fully recovered from the illness.

Magazine editor Cristina, 50, had been posting regular updates about her husband’s condition on Instagram. The couple had been quarantining separately since Chris’ diagnosis two weeks ago, with him staying in the basement and Cristina staying with the children upstairs.

‘My wife, she was cleared by the CDC, she doesn’t have fever, she doesn’t have symptoms anymore,’ he declared before praising his entire family for supporting him.

‘Thank you for being so nice to me,’ he said to his daughter, Carolina. ‘Thank you for taking care of everything you had to,’ Cuomo said to his son, Mario before finally thanking his wife, ‘Thank you for taking care of me.’

‘So anyway, I’m back. Let’s get after it,’ Cuomo continued.

Despite the couple's successive health setbacks, their three children - Bella (center), Carolina (center-left), and Mario (center-right) however, have 'stepped up' and are 'helping each other', according to Chris. Thankfully, none of the three children contracted the virus.

According to her husband, Cristina’s symptoms include a loss of smell and taste, which Chris said that, based on anecdotal evidence, appeared to be more common in milder cases of the illness.

Chris’ side-effects, meanwhile, were said to be more severe, including a fever so extreme that he chipped a tooth while shivering.

Upon emerging from the basement, Cuomo thanked their three children, for ‘stepping up and helping each other.’

Thankfully, Cuomo’s children have all been fine and have not exhibited any symptoms of COVID-19.

Families all over know the reality our family faces: few are one case and done. Sure enough, Cristina has covid now. Kids are still healthy but this shook us at our literal core. All are stepping up. Can’t wait to shake this fever so I can help her as she helped me. Sucks. pic.twitter.com/ncyoQ3saWc

During an interview on the segment the night before, Chris told De. Sanjay Gupta that he had attempted to take himself off Tylenol – which he’d been taking for his fever – for 72 hours, but ended up developing a 101 degree temperature after just 60 hours.

‘I have to be honest, I got a little cocky,’ Chris said Tuesday. ‘I started thinking about, ‘Oh great, I want to get retested and then I’m going to do this and I’m going to do that and I’m going to do this.’ Not the way COVID works… It comes in waves.’

In another broadcast, Cuomo voiced his frustration at his seeming inability to shift the virus, despite some of his symptoms improving.

‘I’m scared by this. I’m scared by the potential of this and it frustrates me because I can’t get out of this basement,’ he said Monday. ‘Everybody tells me it’s gradual, it takes time – anywhere from two to three-and-a-half weeks, but it is maddening to have this little, stupid fever.’
