Chris Eubank Jr urges Kell Brook to come out of retirement to fight him

‘Let’s get this fight ON!’: Chris Eubank Jr tells Kell Brook to perform retirement U-turn to settle their long-running feud in the ring… as he insists the former world champion ‘still has gas in the tank’

  • Kell Brook announced his retirement from boxing earlier this month
  • However, Chris Eubank Jr wants Brook to reverse his decision and fight him
  • Eubank Jr believes Brook is still a high-class boxer who should not be retiring yet
  • The pair have been rivals since 2016 when Brook faced Gennady Golovkin
  • Eubank Jr looked set to fight Golovkin, only for Brook to take his place instead

Chris Eubank Jr has called on Kell Brook to ditch his retirement plans and face him in a domestic clash this summer.

Brook announced he was stepping away from the ring for good on May 7, having dismantled long-term rival Amir Khan in his final fight back in February.

However, Eubank Jr feels Brook’s performance in that contest proved that he is still a force to be reckoned with, and he has urged the 36-year-old to lace up his gloves one more time.

‘Kell Brook still has gas in the tank and the ability to fight well and make money so I cannot understand why he would not have one more fight, payday and shot at greatness,’ he told The Sun.

‘Kell can still come out of retirement, he has only been gone a few days, he can get his a*** back in the gym and have a change of heart.

‘I don’t know how much he has made in his career but he doesn’t seem like the sharpest tool in the shed so the few million he made won’t last more than 10-15 years.

‘You want to make as much money as you can, while you can because there is no other way to make money.

‘Come out of retirement and let’s get this fight on in the summer, give the fans what they want and he can sail off back into the sunset with a few more million.’

Eubank Jr and Brook’s rivalry dates back to 2016, when the latter jumped ahead of the Brighton boxer in the pecking order to face Gennady Golovkin.

Brook would go on to lose Golovkin in five rounds, with his corner calling off the fight after he suffered a broken eye socket.

Eubank Jr took to Twitter afterwards to challenge Golovkin, while also accusing Brook’s team of throwing the towel in.

Brook has not campaigned at middleweight since, but Eubank Jr clearly still has hopes of tempting him back to the 160-pound division this year.
